Police in the Upper West Region have confirmed the arrest of one Simon Okafo Chukudi, a 46-year-old Nigeria who went on the run after testing positive for COVID19.
He was arrested in a compound house near the Wa polytechnic, which is about 3km away from his known residence.
Simon Chukudi has since been handed over to the COVID19 team in the region, led by the Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih.
Seven other people he came into contact with him have also been placed under quarantine at the Upper West regional hospital.
This is not the first incident of a person who has contracted the virus has escaped.
Weeks ago, one of the eight Guineans who tested positive for virus escaped from the facility in which they are being quarantined in Tamale.
He was however arrested in Accra after some days.
Last week, two persons who tested positive for the virus in Accra were also reported to have escaped
“Two persons are on the run after testing positive for the novel coronavirus at Old Fadama, a suburb of Accra.
These individuals, who were confirmed to have been infected by the virus are yet to be reached by contact tracers three days after confirmation of their status,” myjoyonline.com reported
