The Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service, in collaboration with Roche Product Ghana Limited has launched a National guideline for cancer treatment in Ghana. The guideline was launched yesterday in Accra.
Speaking at the launch, Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Nsiah Asare expressed his elation with the launch of the guideline which seeks to help health workers deal with cases of cancer.
In his view, the document, which is the first ever treatment guidelines in Ghana will help health workers on activities for respective cancers at various levels.
“I am happy this morning to address this launch of our first ever treatment guideline on cancer for Ghana…this document as I see it is also very user friendly with clear guidelines on activities for respective cancers at various levels of care including referrals. We have also well laid out algorithms which are available and add to the user friendly nature of the document…there is also information on various laboratory investigations with respect to the levels of care…”
Dr. Nsiah Asare was also appreciative to Roche Product Ghana Limited for their contribution towards that production of the document.
He added that the guideline document was fully funded by the pharmaceutical company.

Cancer is a major public health problem worldwide and Ghana has not been spared of this ever growing canker, which falls under target three of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He also noted the contribution of Roche product Ghana limited.
