A military officer on lockdown duties has reportedly shot a policewoman, identified as Lance Corporal Francisca Tenge, at Tema New Town in the Tema Metropolis of the Greater Accra Region
The two security personnel are both on “Operation Covid-Safety.”
The incident happened on Thursday morning at about 8:30am.
It is unclear what might have provoked the military officer to take such action.
Lance Corporal Francisca Tenge is said to have sustained injuries on the lower part of her leg and has since been rushed to the Tema General Hospital.
The solider who carried the action has been removed from post and is currently under military detention.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh is leading a team to visit the victim of the gunshot.
Lance Corporal Francisca Tenge is with the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Police at the Tema Regional Police Command.
