Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has hinted on parliament’s intention to make laws that will imprison political leaders who mastermind the activities of vigilante groups in the country.
The Majority leader made this known at the maiden edition of ‘Political Monetization’, which was organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs held under the theme, “Money, Influence, Corruption, and Capture: Can Ghana’s democracy be Safeguarded?”
According to Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the vigilante bill, which is before Parliament, has clauses that will eternally curb the menace by making culprits face the law.
“We want to extend the arm of the law and identifying who the vigilante is and the sponsors of the vigilante groups and we intend to even identify political parties that harbor these vigilante groups.
When that is discovered, the leadership of that political party is going to face the law and we intend to imprison them for harboring the vigilante groups”, he maintained.
