JCR Presidential Aspirant of the Hilla Limann hall of the University of Ghana, Peter Keelson Aikins has withdrawn from the forthcoming presidential elections together with his running mate, Anita Panful.
The sudden exit of one of the two candidates for the presidential portfolio was confirmed by the Electoral Commissioner of the hall, Bernard Cassie, exclusively to Univers news.
This comes on the back of an injunction suit that was filed by one, Fritz Moses, a resident of the hall and a sympathizer of Keelson and his running mate.
The JCR election which was supposed to be held on Friday [November 9] was postponed indefinitely after the Chief Justice of the hall ruled in favor of the applicant who challenged the timing of the election and accordingly granted an injunction.
The Judicial Board is expected to hear the substantive case on Monday to bring a finality to the issue.
Meanwhile, according to reliable sources, the election will postponed to next semester as there is not enough time to conduct the elections.
Keelson’s resignation comes as a shock to most residents who believed that he was ahead of his competitor, Delvin Addae.
Delvin and his running mate, Nana Kwaku Owusu Achiaw still remain committed to their goal of clinching the presidential and vice presidential seats in spite of the delay in the conduct of the elections.
