Deputy Electoral Commissioner of the Alexander Adum Kwapong Hall, Amdaway Marwan Bamba, says that he, together with other deputy electoral commissioners have been sidelined on electoral processes ahead of the forthcoming JCR elections.
He says that no proper discussions have been held among the Electoral Commissioners on the planned election.
In an interview with UniversNews, he disclosed that he was not even aware that a date had been set for the election.
“I’m part of the EC and with this election, I’ve not heard anything from them. Our WhatsApp page is blank right now and I don’t know what is going on. I haven’t been involved in any meeting or whatsoever concerning the elections. Before the coronavirus break, we were supposed to hold elections but that couldn’t come off and after the break, we haven’t met to discuss anything and up till now no meeting has been held,” he claimed
He says that the acting Electoral Commissioner, Nana Kofi Ampong-Darkwah, was failing to update them with plans for the election.
Amdaway Marwan Bamba says that even in his capacity as Deputy Commissioner, he was unaware that a date had been set for the election.
“We have a page and the head is always supposed to feed as with the information which would also get us involved with the activities. Honestly, I don’t know how the election is going to be conducted. If I say I know anything, I’ll be lying to you,” he said.
