First Deputy Electoral Commissioner of the Alexander Adum Kwapong Hall Junior Common Room, Andy Ackah Enyimah, is accusing his superior, Nana Kofi Ampong-Darkwah, of wrongdoing in organizing this year’s elections.
He says that the first phase of the elections, which was organized for level 200s and 300s, was fraught with irregularities.
Andy Enyimah, who resigned as the EC Chairman of the Hall’s JCR ahead of the election, insists that some JCR executives are interfering with electoral processes.
Speaking on Campus Exclusive, he also accused Nana Kofi Ampong-Darkwah of taking unilateral decisions.
“Aspirants are been kept in the dark on so many things. Some individuals are doing what just they want with the whole process. Remember we started sometimes with me as the electoral commissioner I had to resign because of so many interferences…I can boldly say on air that as a Commission, we met just once and he refuses to sit with us. He does things on his own. Even the ballot papers, we didn’t know where there were printed. Aspirants did not really know where it was printed didn’t even get the opportunity to ballots and know their numbers. Clearly, as you can say that they are running the election for a particular candidate” he claimed.”
Andy Enyimah is not the only one to accuse Nana Kofi Ampong-Darkwah of being nontransparent.
Earlier in May this year, Amdaway Marwan Bamba, also a member of the Electoral Commission, said that he, together with other deputy electoral commissioners, are being sidelined.
He said that no proper discussions were held among the Electoral Commissioners on the election.
Ahead of the first phase of the election, he disclosed that he was not even aware that a date had been set for the election.
“I’m part of the EC and with this election, I’ve not heard anything from them. Our WhatsApp page is blank right now and I don’t know what is going on. I haven’t been involved in any meeting or whatsoever concerning the elections. Before the coronavirus break, we were supposed to hold elections but that couldn’t come off and after the break, we haven’t met to discuss anything and up till now no meeting has been held,” he claimed
