Students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are electing new executive office holders for their Students’ Representative Council (SRC) today, April 17 2019.
The Electoral Commission of the KNUST SRC is under the chairmanship of Mr. Akwasi Nti Awuah.
The elections will produce new executives for the President, Vice President, Secretary, Financial Secretary and Women’s Commissioner offices.
Below are all candidates contesting in this years KNUST SRC Elections with their respective vetting scores as published the the Electoral Commission of the KNUST.
Seven persons are running for the office of the president. They are Adu Baah Charles, Samuel Sesah, Opey Joshua, Michael Ampah, Kwadwo Nketiah Fidelis, Ali Ibrahim, Tuffour Ellis
Osei Bonsu Cecilia Nana Adutwumwaah, Wellington Venessa Aku Sika, Ansah Sewaa-Akoko Mirriam and Insaidoo Fedelia for Secretary
Danso Boakye Maxwel, Boakye Yiadom Conrad and Watson Sedodzi David are contesting for the Treasurer office.
In the Women’s Commissioner race are Sosu-Dees Sandra Esinam and Ohemeng Appiah Ebe Rebecca.
The election is on-going at 17 polling stations across the KNUST campus.
Turnout is expected to increase when all lectures end on the campus.
Security has been beefed up at all polling stations.
However, sympathizers of some aspirants have been spotted actively campaigning too close to polling stations, a situation which has been described as very worrying by Former Dean of Students of the KNUST, Professor William Gariba.
Polls is scheduled to close at 5pm.
