Some students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have allegedly been brutalized by the school’s security for disturbing public peace.
The students are said to be affiliates of the University and Unity Halls of the university.
According to reports, the students of the two halls had expressed their desire to ‘charge’; a usual Friday evening practice with sees the students mostly gather to sing cheer songs amidst drumming and dancing.
However, this time around, they were denied access to their drums and other musical instruments.
The incidents is said to have happened around 7pm on Friday, September 7.
UniversNews understands that the students, without their instruments still marched to the parade grounds to continue their ‘tradition’.
Unhappy with the development, the school’s security was said to have then pounce on the students with canes; forcing them to disperse.
Unfortunately, some of the students were brutalize and sustained some degree of injuries.
