Professor (Mrs.) Rita A. Dickson has been elected as the new Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
She becomes the first female to elected to the high office of the university.
Out of the 729 votes cast, Prof. Rita Dickson of the Pharmacognosy Department pulled 326 votes (44.72%).
Her two other contenders, Professor Ben K.B Banful and Professor Charles Marfo of the both pulled 189 (25.93%) and 214 (29.36) votes respectively.
According to Professor Eugenia Amporfu, a scrutineer of the examination, the winner of the election should obtained at least 50% + 1 votes; otherwise a runoff featuring the two leading contestants.
Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson is an Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy. She obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) and Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degrees from KNUST and holds a PhD and a Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (GCAP) from Kings College, London.
