National Democratic Congress flagbearer hopeful, John Dramani Mahama, has said that he is overwhelmed by the generosity of party faithfuls after they thronged his office earlier today to contribute towards his nomination and filing fees.
In a social media post, the former president said their actions have proven that with unity, solidarity, dedication and hardwork, the party will win the 2020 General election.
“I am further humbled by the teeming number of you, who gathered in my office, to contribute your widows mite to my campaign. Thank you.” he said.
Today, some party supporters stormed the office of John Mahama to make financial contributions towards his nomination and filling fees.
Although many have described the GHc420,000 fees the NDC is charging its flagbearer hopefuls as hefty, Mahama’s campaign team have called on his followers to make donations towards the cause to enable him contest in the upcoming primaries.
Meanwhile, Mr. John Mahama earlier today picked his nomination forms, although his other colleagues have boycotted the process until their petition is addressed over the high cost of fees.
As at midday, the office of the former president confirmed that it had received up to GHc1,000 cedis from about 500 supporters via the campaign’s mobile money number.
Also, media reports suggests that the party faithfuls who have made their way to his office are contributing between GHC1.00 to GHC 10.00 each.
Further reports also suggest that some NDC Members of Parliament are also putting funds together to help John Mahama get the needed money to run in the flagbearership race.
