The Inspector General of Police, David Asante Apeatu, has called for investigations into an attack on some personnel of the Ghana Police Service by some suspected robbers leading to the death of a woman at Agbogbloshie in Accra.
In a four-point release signed by the Director-General of the Police Service, ASP David Eklu, said the IGP had tasked the Criminal Investigations Department to thoroughly investigate the attack that led to the death of a yet-to-be identified lady.
On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, a team of police men from the Accra Regional Police Headquarters, acting on intelligence, stormed a ghetto at Agbogloshie where robbery suspect Nuhu Sule was believed to be hiding with items he had stolen during a robbery operation the previous night.
When they retrieved the items believed to have been stolen by Nuhu Sule, the personnel had to call for reinforcement after they were attacked.
The statement from the police further added that it had in its custody some fifteen (15) suspected individuals who are believed to have masterminded the attack on the Police personnel pending further investigations.
