President of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana, Legon chapter Mr. Nana Asafo Adjei has categorically denied ever trying to influence Mr. Sylvester Nyamekye, the Chief Justice of the Judicial Committee who has recused himself from the GRASAG election petition hearing.
Mr. Asafo Adjei speaking to Maxwell Amoofia on Campus Exclusive on Radio Univers on Friday indicated that he was disappointed at the approach being used by the Chief Justice and that he was ready to haul the CJ to the appropriate quarters to clear his name including to the Dean Of Student Affairs, the school’s Disciplinary Committee and its Legal Council.
Even after an audio was played to him by the show host purported to be a discussion between him [the president] and the Chief Justice where he is heard trying to convince the Chief Justice to dismiss the case, he insisted that it was ‘never ever my[his] voice’’.
When the Chief Justice was contacted to respond to the denial of the president, he said he was ‘extremely shocked because it was as if a day like this will come that is why I was advised that upon meeting him I had to record our conversation’ and also ’flabbergasted’ standing still by his earlier assertions that the president indeed tried to influence him to dismiss the petition further adding that Mr. Asafo Adjei ‘has no integrity’.
