Reports reaching UniversNews indicates that a Diploma student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism has been caught with 19 thumb-printed ballots.
According to reports, the student, Ishmael Fia, was caught trying to thumb-print several ballot papers by some of students of the Institute who raised an alarm.
Police personnel at the election ground then moved swiftly to restore calm and order.
Ishmael Fia was subsequently taken away by the police and is said to be in custody at the Cantoments Police Station
In an engagement with an eyewitness, he mentioned that he became suspicious of Ishmael Fia as he spent a relatively longer time at the ballot booth.
“The electoral process was going on smoothly until a Diploma 2 student was caught. I personally saw him trying to drop a ballot into a box and i had to blow an alarm because the number of minutes he spent was uncalled for and he has been arrested”
Thousands of students of the Institute are expected to cast their ballots today to elect a new crop of leaders for the students front of the Institute.
Over 2,000 students are expect to cast their ballot in today’s election.
