The Ghana Institute of Journalism Students Representative Council ‘s Electoral Commission, today Friday, April 5, released the vetting results for this year’s SRC elections.
Aspirants were vetted on April 3rd and 4th to determine who qualified to contest in the SRC election slated for Sunday April 14 and Monday April 15, 2019.
This is the second time the EC has conduct a vetting for aspirants.
The initial one resulted in the mass qualification of aspirants for peculiar reasons; a development which led to the reopening of nomination forms.
He also added that the Commission went through the marks given to the aspirants who were qualified in the initial vetting to ensure that mistakes were not made
“…even after the qualification of aspirants in the first vetting, we went through all the marks once again. We are a commission and we’re fallible so we had to go through the score sheet again”
Per the results announced by the Commission, seven persons will stand for voting for the Presidential Office.
The seven include, Charles Cheku Armah, Noble Verdict, Evans Aziamor-Mensah, and Louisa Kwakye.
Others are Joseph Agbezuke, Fauzu Masawudu and Philip Kwame Sarbah.
For the Organizing Secretary portfolio, new entrant Michael Ofori Yeboah was the only one to be passed by the Vetting Committee.
The other two, Jeffery Agyemang and Cedric Kekeli Afewu, were disqualified again from contesting.
Whereas the EC justified Jeffery Agyemanh’s disqualification on the basis that he had not paid his fees, Cedric Kekeli Afewu, who filed a suit against the EC challenging his disqualification was disqualified again. This time, on the grounds that his performance was unimpressive during his vetting.
