Students admitted in the 2020/2021 academic year at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) will have their matriculation ceremony online.
The decision to hold the ceremony online is a result of the spike in Covid- 19 cases in the country.
They have scheduled the ceremony for Friday, February 26, 2021.
GIJ is not the only tertiary institution to hold it’s matriculation ceremony online.
The University of Ghana, on Saturday, February 6, 2021 held a virtual ceremony to officially welcome their newly admitted students.
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), earlier this week, announced plans to organize a virtual ceremony
Ghana’s Covid-19 situation
The country is experiencing another wave of the virus.
An average of 600 new cases are being recorded daily.
The country currently has 6,095 active cases per the last update by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Saturday, February 6, 2021, with statistics as of 2nd February 2021
449 Covid-19 related deaths have also been recorded.
