Management of the Ghana Institute of Journalism has extended the closing date for the registration of courses for continuing students.
Continuing students now have till Saturday February 18, 2019 to pay their fees and duly register their courses.
Deadline for normal registration was initially scheduled for Monday 4th February, 2019.
Penalty for late registration also takes effect from Monday February 18.
Defaulting students students will however be blocked from the online portal effective 1st March, 2019.
When a student fails to register for the semester, which is already 3-weeks, he/she is not permitted to attend lectures and cannot partake in the end of semester examinations.
For this second semester, students can only register after a 100% payment of their fees.
In December last year, some students of the communication specialized school staged what they described as ‘a silent protest’ against school authorities for disallowing some of their colleagues from partaking in the end of semester examinations.
According to the students, the protest was in solidarity with their colleagues who were denied from writing their papers for failing to pay their fees in full.
Although school management explained that those who were disallowed from sitting for the exams had not duly registered their courses, the students explained that their inability to register their courses was due to technical challenges with the online portal which was no fault of their.
