The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), with assistance with the Police, has effected the arrest of one Elizabeth Torgbor, popularly known on social media as Mama Gee, over sales of products which the FDA claims have not been registered.
Mama Gee is widely known for the sale of aphrodisiacs.
In a statement signed and issued by the chief Executive Officer of FDA, Mrs. Delese A. A. Darko, Mama Gee was arrested on Wednesday at her shop at Madina near Rawlings Circle in Accra.
Mama Gee is, perhaps, the second person to be arrested by the FDA for making unproven claims as well as selling unapproved products.
Last month, Gospel musician, Brother Sammy, was arrested by the Ashanti Region Police command over claims that he has drugs that can cure HIV/AIDS and other diseases.
Photos released by the FDA on their social media suggests that her shop was locked after the arrest.
