The opposition National Democratic Congress has claimed victory over key constituencies, which are currently being held by the New Patriotic Party.
According to the Director of Elections of the party, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, their projections indicate that they have flipped these areas.
He said that some of the constituencies these constituencies have been won for the first time since 1992.
“Preliminary results trooping in shows a very exciting outlook but our victory is not complete until the last ballot is counted and collated. These preliminary results can be seen from the provisional results so far and some significant seats that we have swapped, some for the first time in the history of the fourth republic since 1992,” he said.
In Greater Accra, the party has claimed to have taken over the Krowo, Ledzokuku, La Dadekotopon, Tema East, Adentan, Madina, Ablekuma Central and Okaikwei North constituencies.
In the Eastern Region, it says that they have maintained a lot of their seats and have flipped the Akwatia constituencies.
The party says that it has flipped Amenfi East, Prestea-Huni Valley, and Jomoro constituencies in the Western Region.
The party added that some constituencies in the Bono East, Western North and Central Regions have been flipped.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah claims that their lead in the parliamentary election reflects in the presidential elections as well.
He has charged party members to remain vigilant as ballots are being collated across the country.
