National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, John Dumelo, says that he would create a football team in his constituency when elected in the December parliamentary election.
He made the promise on Sunday when he was launching his campaign to unseat the incumbent MP, Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan, who is contesting on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.
John Dumelo said that a lot of football talents in the constituency were going waste avenues for them to showcase their gifts have not been created.
He was hopeful that the team, when created, will get the opportunity to feature in the Ghana Premier League.
He said that the creation of the team, which would be known as West Wuogon FC, will be among the foremost things he will do when elected.
He has pledged 50% of his salary as an MP to this cause.
“The first thing I’ll do with that 50% of my salary is to establish a football team in Ayawaso West Wuogon. It’s time to create the West Wuogon Football Club so that the footballers here can also get the opportunity to play in the [Ghana] Premier League and also go abroad.”
