MTN Ghana says significant progress has been achieved in restoring issues with mobile data connectivity in the country.
According to the telecommunication giant, the current interruptions in data connectivity experienced throughout the sub-region is as result of “double undersea fibre optic cable cut in Europe”.
On Thursday January 16, customers of MTN have lamented the poor data services rendered by the telco resulting from the damaged cables that serves the sub-regions.
The company however says that significant progress have been made to salvage the situation.
“MTN Ghana confirms that significant progress has been achieved in restoring the mobile data connectivity issues. The restoration has commenced and so far, we have attained 50% resolution.” – the statement said.
The telco says users can now access some data services with appreciable speed.
“You can now experience appreciable speed levels with picture, video and general downloads as well as WhatsApp and International Outgoing calls. Updates will be shared as more progress is made.” – the statement read.

Connectivity was interrupted over the last two days as a result of a double undersea fibre optic cable cut in Europe which affected six Operators in six West African Countries and beyond. This situation affected our internet services, due specifically to issues with the West Africa Cable System (WACS).
