Chairman of Adentan Constituency for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mr. Abdul Malik Jeleel says the party will win the seat in this year’s election.
According to him, the seat which has been swinging between the ruling party New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has turned to be a prostitute parliamentary seat.
In a statement, Abdul Malik Jeleel said that he is very optimistic and with full confidence the seat will be won for the party in this year’s election.
He added that the incumbent member of parliament of the constituency, Hon. Yaw Buaben Asamoah ‘is the worst of all members of parliament the Adentan constituency has ever had’.
“Adentan has deprived communities like the Adentan Village which the youth are crying for sustainable livelihood. Instead of empowering the youth in the village with skill training for their sustainable livelihood, he is rather fixing a football pitch for them to go and play football with an empty stomach as part of their 2016 campaign promise. The good people of Adentan vote on anger and the NPP shouldn’t think the candidate that they fixed is the problem but rather, the party is the problem ” He said.
He further urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to vote for a best candidate who can help unify their constituency executives and also help to win the parliamentary seat in 2024 but not in 2020.
However, Mr. Abdul Malik Jeleel has added that the NDC parliamentary candidate, Mohammed Adamu Ramadan is a novice in politics and does not know how to put his house in order left alone thinking about partisan politics.
“The story of 2016 is the same and we shall take NDC by their own horn. CPP would have been scared if Nana Oye Lithur was NDC’s parliamentary candidate due to her assertiveness in politics.” He added
He has also confirmed that some outreach strategies which the party has put in place in terms of “Adentan youth for Change”, “End NPP and NDC rule now”, “market women for change” have been halted as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) is yet to hold a national congress to elect its flag bearer and other national officers and it has called on various leading political parties in the country to remain calm.
