The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has assured students of the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines.
Speaking to UniversNews on the participation of students in the vaccination process, President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Isaac Jay Hyde stated that the education by the Union of the importance and safety of the COVID-19 vaccine started prior to its arrival last month.
“Within our own remit, we started some engagement here and there. If you check on our Facebook we’ve been to Cape Coast and Bono region trying to sensitize our members about covid 19 and what they should know about vaccines. As at the time we started, the vaccines were not even in the country. we plan to go to the grounds to talk to people” He told UniversNews.
He advised students to shun various misconceptions surrounding the vaccine and go out in their numbers to receive the jab when the time is due.
“As far as I am concerned and the data available shows it’s not only Astra Zenica that is producing vaccines across the globe. I don’t think that somebody will deliberately want to kill us by coming out with a vaccine.
looking at the trust our leaders have put in it, students should be confident and trust the process” He added.
Mr. Hyde further admonished every Ghanaian to get vaccinated. This, he believes, is the only sure way to end the spread of the coronavirus disease.
“We recognize that it’s not only the issue about people trooping to take the vaccines but also about misconception and religion so it needs a concerted effort by all. let’s all come on board to support the government.” He said
