Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM 1, has been remanded into police custody for two weeks by an Accra High Court.
He is standing trial for two counts of abetment to defraud by false pretence and two counts of abetment to carry out banking business without licence, contrary to Section 6 (1) of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).
The case has been adjourned to July 26 this year.
Mr. Appiah Mensah was detained by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service upon his arrival from the United Arab Emirates.
The embattled Chief Executive Officer of gold dealership firm Menzgold was put on Interpol red list by Ghanaian security authorities over issues relating depositors funds in his firm.
