The University of Ghana Student Representative Council (UGSRC) has dissociated itself from a statement announcing the appointment of Rubby Nkansah as Chair of Interim Management Committee.
In a release signed by the Acting UGSRC President, Kwame Amo Ntow Fianko indicated that all matters relating to the transition process will be communicated in due time.
“This notice comes to debunk and dissociate the SRC from such a release and entreat all students to disregard it as all issues of SRC elections are still under discussion in due time not far from now will be communicated for proper transition to be done”
In October 2021, students of the University of Ghana headed to the polls to elect new executives of the SRC for the 2021/2022 academic year.
In the first phase of the election, none of the two leading presidential candidates Samuel Amos Ofosu and Prince Asumadu attained the 50% +1 threshold to be declared president-elect.
A presidential runoff was held between the two candidates; Prince Asumadu and his running mate, Wisdom Ndukwe we’re declared as UGSRCPresident and Vice-President-elect by the UG Electoral Commission.
The transition process has stalled due to petitions before the UGSRC Judicial Board and the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs demanding an investigation of irregularities and improprieties that riddled the electoral process by some students in the University, some Presiding Officers cum Hall Electoral Commissioners, and Presidential candidate Samuel Ofosu.
