The University of Ghana Students Representative Council (UGSRC) has called on the Vice-Chancellor of the Univerisity, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu to direct the opening of the residential registration portal for level 200 and 300 non-resident students as soon as possible.
This was contained in a letter from the Acting General Secretary of the Unversity of Ghana Students Representative Council, Ruby Nkansah to the Vice-Chancellor on Friday, March 26 2021.
“We write to humbly call on you to direct the opening of the residential accommodation portal as soon as possible. This is because, as it is well known, the continuing levels 200 and 300 students are reopening next week but as we write to you, the online residential application portal has not been opened. Most students in these batches, especially non-resident students, are less hopeful of any chances of securing accommodation in the forthcoming semester, due to the delay in the opening of the portal.” The letter reads.
The council further urged the Vice-Chancellor to charge the appropriate people responsible for the release of the residential registration link to make it available immediately as students are waiting to register.
“We are reliably informed that a committee under the Residence Board is responsible for the release of the link for the online residential application. Therefore, we respectfully request that you, by a matter of urgency, charge the appropriate quarters to release the link in order to give students ample time to prepare for their reopening.
Prior to the release of the link, it will be appropriate for the committee to give the SRC notice of such a date for us to reach the larger number of students anxiously awaiting the link.”
Meanwhile, the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic year has ended for newly admitted and final year students of the University of Ghana.
It ended on Sunday, 21st March 2021, after 9 weeks of academic activities, including the two-week period for examinations.
These two groups of students are expected to report back on campus between Thursday, June 17, and Sunday, June 20, 2021, for the start of their second semester of the academic year.
The University is however preparing to receive its students who are in their second and third years of their undergraduate programme.
The portal for academic registration has already been opened and they are expected to report on campus between Thursday, April 1, 2021, and Sunday, April 4, 2021.
