The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has planned to boycott lectures tomorrow Monday, October 22 to express their unhappiness over recent cases of brutalities suffered by students in the hands of the school’s security.
In addition to the boycott of lectures, they shall engage in a demonstration against the school’s authority.
Since the official conversion of all traditional halls of residence into mixed ones by the school’s management, students, especially of the University Hall have suffered violence from the school’s security with the recent case happening on Friday.
Friday’s alleged brutality has resulted in one student battling for his life at the Tech Hospital in Kumasi.
Unfortunately, in all two reported cases of brutalities against the students, school management have appeared unconcerned.
In a communique issued by the Executive Council of the SRC, they announced their participation of the planned boycott and demonstration against the school’s management.
According to them, they have “had enough” of the school management.
Meanwhile, alumni of the KNUST have also pledged support of tomorrow’s exercise.
According to them, the behaviour by the “hoards of security men turned VC Obiri Danso’s militia” is totally unacceptable.
The KNUST alumni are also calling for an apology from the school’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, to “students, and all of Ghana for the crazy brutality his militia have meted out to innocent public”
