Radio Univers 105.7FM has partnered with the International Movement of Catholic Students (IMCS) Pax Romana Ghana Federation and the Federation of Ghana Catholic Health Trainees to create Breast Cancer Awareness.
The campaign is being run with the theme #iPINKiCAN.
The partnership is aimed at sensitizing the public on the risk factors, symptoms and treatment, hoping that greater knowledge will lead to earlier detection of the disease.
This campaign will include extensive education, especially on the Yaa Asantewaa show every Tuesday at 8 pm.
Globally, as part of efforts to raise awareness on breast cancer, October has been declared the Pink Month.
Throughout the month, various organizations and groups will undertake initiatives to educate the public, especially females, about the need to detect breast cancer at an early stage.
According to statistics, breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women and men worldwide.
In 2012, it represented about 12 percent of all new cancer cases and 25 percent of all cancers in women”.
