The Bono East region is the latest region in the country to record a case of the novel coronavirus.
This leaves the Ahafo Region as the only area in the country that is yet to be hit by the outbreak of the disease.
The case in Bono East is 31-year-old commercial driver from Yeji who plies his trade from Yeji to Kumasi. He has homes in Kumasi and Yeji but spends more time in Kumasi.
He lives in a household of eight people in Yeji but his wife and children live in Kumasi.
The case was contacted by phone in Kumasi and COVID-19 positive status shared with him and National Ambulance in Kumasi transported him to a treatment centre in Kintampo.
Twenty-seven contacts have been identified and listed so far, including four close contacts and twenty-three casual contacts.
The case is asymptomatic and being managed at the Kintampo Treatment Centre.
This case is among the 313 new cases that have pushed Ghana’s case count to 7,616, as of Friday, May 28, 2020.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s death toll remains at 34.
However, the country has now recorded 2,421 recoveries after nine more persons were declared to have recovered from the disease.
