One of the 6 injured persons who were rushed to the Legon Hospital for treatment has been transferred to the 37 Military Hospital as his case appears to be more critical.
In an interview with Dr. Gaisie, who is the administrator at the Legon Hospital, he confirmed that 6 persons were indeed admitted at the hospital but one of them had to be rushed to the 37 Military Hospital due to the severity of his condition.
Barely two hours after the commencement of elections at the Bawaleshie Presby School polling station, there were reports of shooting at the polling station with at least 6 persons suffering various degrees of injuries.
According to eyewitnesses at the Bawaleshie Presby School polling center, some masked men, cloaked in black shirts with code name “SSC” apprehended two men who were taking a video of the electoral process at the polling center.
Following the arrest, electorates at the center questioned the legality of the actions of the men who were posed as members of the National Security Council.
The National Democratic Congress has announced their withdrawal from the elections following some incidents of violence which marred the electoral process especially at Bawaleshie where there are reports of shooting.
The National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, said the party’s candidate, Delali Brempong, was basically being “held hostage” in the area.
He also said there was “serious intimidation” from national security operatives.
Also at the Legon Hall polling station, there were reports that blows were being traded between some faithfuls of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress.
