Black Stars and Kayserispor striker, Asamoah ‘Baby Jet’ Gyan has rescinded his decision to recuse himself from AFCON 2019 and permanently retire from the senior national team.
Asamoah Gyan’s decision comes after President Akufo-Addo held an emergency meeting at the Jubilee House with management of the Black Stars over the former’s resignation.
In the statement, Gyan mentioned that he had a conversation with the President and found it difficult to go against his request for him return to the team.
He also indicated that he still has the desire to help the country end the over three decade wait to annex the African Cup of Nations Trophy.
According to media reports, Asamoah Gyan decided to retire from the senior male soccer team entirely when Coach Kwasi Appiah communicated his decision to him to make him the general captain of the team.
Inside sources revealed that the coach had opted to make Andre Dede Ayew the new captain to lead Ghana to the AFCON 2019 tournament in Egypt next month.
However, Gyan, who is the most successful player and top scorer in the current Stars set-up might felt slighted by the decision which came barely a month to the tournament.
