Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has confirmed James Oppong-Boanuh as the substantive Inspector-General of Police.
He gets two years extension after serving in Acting capacity since July this year.
He takes over from David Asante-Appeatu, who was asked by the President to proceed on leave pending his retirement from the police service.
The new IGP who has equally hit his retirement age was granted an extension by President Akufo-Addo in 2018 after he wrote to the Interior Ministry seeking an extension of his service.
In a congratulatory message by the Police Service, they described his confirmation and extension as an endorsement of actions started by him.
