Some customers of telecommunication network AirtelTigo in the Greater Accra Region have expressed frustration over a seeming blackout by the company due to a network upgrade.
AirtelTigo, yesterday announced that it was undertaking a network upgrade in the Greater Accra Region to provide customers with nationwide, fast internet and superior voice quality.
However, some customers, since the upgrade begun, have complained of having no network service.
Although the network provider, in a social media post, advised customers who will “encounter challenges such as “No Service” or “Emergency” to visit any of their shops to upgrade their SIM, it appears the message is not going well with AirtelTigo users.
Also, it appears specific timelines within which the upgrade work will be completed.
Some have complained that since the Airtel Ghana and Tigo Ghana merged to become AirtelTigo, their services have not seen improvement.
Taking to social media, one Delanyo Nyadiah posted “Hmmmmm I don’t know what to tell AirtelTigo. My Tigo Network just went off for the last 2days. I couldn’t make calls nor load credit. It came back on the 3rd day after countless efforts to bring it back myself. This morning my Airtel Network was off as the Tigo did last 2 days. Am just waiting for it to come back. Thought this 2 networks came together to do us good but Charlie bad bad bad.”
Checks by UniversNews indicate that AirtelTigo customers suffered a similar challenge earlier this month during a fibre cut by the network in some parts of the country.
The fibre cuts prevented customers from accessing the internet, send SMSs and recharged airtime.
