Management of the Accra Technical University has planned to commence the 2020/2021 academic year in October.
This was disclosed by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Ms. Fausta Ganah.
Although the university has extended the deadline for admission applications to the end of August, they have started issuing admission letters to successful applicants.
Ms. Fausta Ganah also indicated that the deadline for applications may be extended further.
“Reopening is October and we’re preparing for reopening, and with deadline for applications extended to the end of August, interested applicants could still apply,” Ms Ganah explained to the Daily Graphic
The coronavirus pandemic has forced many tertiary institutions to hold on with commencing academic activities for the 2020/2021 academic year.
Education institutions are awaiting the government to set modalities for the reopening of schools for continuing students.
That notwithstanding, some tertiary institutions, including the Ashesi University have announced their readiness to commence the 2020/2021 academic year.
They have indicated that academic activities would still be held online.
The Ghana Institute of Journalism may have also given a hint of continuing with its online classes in the next academic year as they have informed their successful undergraduate applicants that their “offer of admission is contingent upon your understanding and confirmation that you have the necessary computing and other requisite skills and also fully equipped to participate in online teaching and learning.”
“By accepting this offer, then, you are agreeing that you have the means (technology and skills) to access and utilise the institution’s Learning Management System and other online resources for participation and completion of your study programme,” the offer letter adds.
