Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kojo Kyeremanten has debunked claims that the one district one factory project is the only project that the government has by way of industrialization.
Speaking at the second edition of the National Building updates which was themed “Industrializing Ghana One District at a time” Mr. Kyeremanteng indicated that the one district one factory project is one of the initiatives under their 10 points industrialization plan for the Country.
Alan Kojo Kyeremanten highlighted that with an effective implementation of one district one factory project, Ghana would move from being an agricultural country to an industrial country like other European countries.
“Everybody thinks 1D1F is the only project in industrialization but the 1D1F is actually part of a 10 point plan for industrialization in Ghana, our plan is to gradually move from an Agric country to an Industrial country like powerful countries such as United States, China, Japan, Germany France”.
Alan Kojo Kyeremanten further stated that the one district one factory is a great way to decrease the huge numbers of unemployment in the youth of Ghana and thereby reduce poverty.
He also believed that one district one factory would reduce rural-urban migration and decongest the urban areas.
“The 1D1F would create massive job opportunities among the youth in the rural and a peri-urban area in Ghana, one answer to decongest the cities is 1d1f because of the job opportunities in the rural areas there would be no need to come to the city”.
The Nation Building updates are a weekly event designed to provide stakeholders in Ghana’s political space with detailed updates on key interventions executed by the government.
