Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has hit back at former President John Dramani Mahama for accusing the current government for its failure to complete health projects the erstwhile NDC administration started, a development the former President says has negatively affected Ghana’s fight against the Coronavirus.
Dr. Bawumia believes the former President did himself no good by comparing data on infrastructure between the current government and his administration.
According to the Vice President, the Akufo-Addo-led government has performed better and delivered on its promises so much than any other government under the fourth Republic of Ghana.
He argued that President Akufo-Addo has shown better leadership in managing COVID-19 than what former President Mahama did when Africa was struck by Ebola.
“So the difference between the NDC and NPP governments is more stark…who would you trust in times of crisis? Clearly, President Akufo-Addo has shown leadership and concern towards ordinary Ghanaians,” Vice President Bawumia emphasized.
Speaking at a media interaction on the COVID-19 response team, Dr. Bawumia explained the mismanagement of the economy during the dumsor era by the NDC government which failed to put any measures in place to mitigate the crisis of unstable electricity supply in the country then.
“We saw that even during dumsor electricity prices were being increased, fuel prices were being increased, teacher trainee allowances were being cancelled,” he noted.
