New Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate and Incumbent member of Parliament for the Korley Klottey Constituency, Dr. Zenator has just cast her vote.
The candidate who normally votes with her father, the late former President Jerry John Rawlings was seen voting alone today.
Speaking to the press after casting her ballot, she stated that despite the movement of her polling centre from a church to a school in the Korley Klottey Constituency which caused a little traffic, the electoral process has been smooth so far.
“It’s been very smooth, I think there was a huge number of people who started in very early and it’s gone a little quieter now I’m sure they build up again at lunchtime and 12 pm. For me, the process was very smooth. The verification worked, you know I saw my picture there, it matched my ID and this is my centre I think the only thing that perhaps was a little bit disoriented effect was that the registration was done within the church and the centre was moved to the school and I think that might have a few people mess away but the security at the church was redirecting traffic this way so I think has made up for it.” she said.
Zenator Rawlings went on to urge all Ghanaians to be vigilant with the issue of double voting and advised the Electoral Commission to deal with the situation quickly.
“And yes we do have one incident that we actually reported to the police and to the EC, which was at the standard education one of the polling centers in asylum down and I think an arrest warrant has been put out for the person who actually did that and we have made a formal report to the EC and we are yet to see what will happen because clearly if that has happened in spite of the fact that we have the machines that are supposed to insure that double voting is not possible, then we have an issue that we have to deal with very quickly. In the meantime everyone should be extra vigilant cause if someone voted in the special voting and was able to vote again today, in spite of the use of these machines then we really need to be very aware of what is going on.” She added.
