Acne, more scientifically referred to as Acne Vulgaris is a long-term skin disease that occurs when hair follicles are clogged with dead skin cells and oil from the skin.
Among the various complications that arise from the occurrence of acne are a low self esteem, anxiety, depression and in very severe cases; thoughts of suicide.
Imagine preparing to attend a job interview or a wedding and one experiences such spontaneous breakouts. It goes a long way to affect confidence levels of the victim in both cases.
Acne, though, can be treated using simple elements that can be found in a household kitchen.

It is important to note that certain foods we eat directly or indirectly influence breakouts such as pimples. Thus, the need to limit the intake of foods with high oil content. Below are three effective home remedies to get rid of acne and its aftermath. To start with;
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Apple cider vinegar over the years has been proven to be the best remedy for acne.
This mixture is made from fermented apple cider or previously pressed juice of apples. It contains many organic acids that have proven effective in the annihilation of potential acne.
Succinic acid, present as a compound in the cider, is known to prevent inflammation caused by potential acne.
Application: Mix one part apple cider vinegar with two parts water and apply to the affected area after cleansing. After waiting a while you rinse and pat dry. This home remedy is known to achieve desired results in less than a month.
TEA TREE OIL
Secondly one can spot-treat with tea tree oil which is extracted from the leaves of Melaleuca Alternifolia. Studies have shown that when compared to 5% benzoyl peroxide, 5% tea tree oil did not act as quickly, but did significantly reduce of breakouts after months of use. It has fewer side effects such as dryness irritation and burning associated with the use of benzoyl peroxide.
Application: Mix one part tea tree oil and nine parts water, dip a cotton swab into the mixture and apply on areas affected.
HONEY AND CINNAMON
A blend of honey and cinnamon has proven vital in the removal of stubborn acne. Both honey and cinnamon are excellent sources of antioxidants, and studies have found that applying antioxidants on the epidermal layer of the skin is more effective at reducing acne than benzoyl peroxide and retinoids. Honey and cinnamon also have the ability to fight bacteria and reduce inflammation, which are two factors that trigger acne, making them perfect as acne medication.
Application: Create a face mask using two tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon. An acne victim is expected to apply the mask after cleansing and wait for about 15-20 minutes and rinse.
These home remedies cut down the cost of acne treatment as they are easily obtained and cost-effective, as opposed to the dermatological products on sale at various pharmacies and vending outlets; and are quite effective in the treatment of acne.
They are however not meant to keep you from going to the clinic. Certain extreme cases of acne require the victim to see a doctor should symptoms persist.
