4 ways to de-stress while working, schooling from home

Working from home has been a new, stressful experience for all of us, but some of us have been having a really rough time adjusting and getting used to it.

Here are some tips you can use to feel more productive, while also getting chances to relax.

1. Weekend Wednesday

The way the weekend already feels short, it might sound like nonsense being told to split your weekend in two.

But what if instead of two measly days to rest, followed by five days back-to-back of work or school, you had one day within the week to relax, splitting up your workdays into smaller, more manageable pieces?

If you can, take Wednesday off and relax, and you can decide to either shift your work onto Saturday or Sunday or take both days off too.

Work will feel more manageable, and your ‘weekends’ will definitely feel longer and more relaxing.

2. Turn your days into chunks

Since we’re all working from home now, it can be very easy to get distracted when you’re supposed to be working or to lose track of how much work you’re doing when you’re supposed to be resting, especially when there’s a lot of different things to.

Dividing your day into big chunks can make it easier to keep track of time as you work, instead of setting multiple alarms that you’ll ignore.

If you break your day into four pieces and have a list of the general things you have to do, it would be easier for you to get some things done.

3. Light exercise

While you are quarantining, you also have to pay special attention to how much activity you have during the day.

It is very easy to lay in bed or sit in your office all day, but this could get boring or exhausting very quickly, even ruining your mood on some occasions.

Light exercise, like going for a walk or stretching could help you feel active and boost your mood. You don’t have to do anything strenuous, and you don’t even have to do it to lose weight.

The most important part is doing something you find fun, otherwise, it will feel like extra work.

4. Pick one new, fun thing to do each week

Even while you may have work to do, it is important to keep yourself entertained, otherwise, you won’t feel motivated to do what you’re supposed to.

But you also have to remember not to get too distracted otherwise you’ll have to do all that work anyways, and you’ll definitely regret it.

It helps, especially if you don’t have a lot of interests or free time, to find one thing that looks fun, and do that whenever you want to relax.

One week, you could decide to just see what’s available on Netflix, and in another, you can decide to play any games you want. It doesn’t have to be every week or even every day of the week, and it can be anything you want.
