The National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) has called on the government of Ghana to include National Service Health Personnel, working in frontline facilities to fight the coronavirus, in the Special Life Insurance Cover.
President of the Association, Moses Budong has bemoaned the unfavorable working conditions of the 18,081 NSS health personnel whose lives are at risk due to their involvement in the Coronavirus fight.
He says Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) in the health facilities especially in Greater Accra, the epicenter of the pandemic, are not enough to cater for the health workers.
He is therefore appealing to government to increase service allowance and provide Personal Protective Equipments for service workers in the frontline health facilities.
“NAHSAG as the umbrella body for all health students and new graduates in the country is aware of the challenging and difficult measures to be taken. We anticipate a swift action in the betterment of the conditions of service for personnel in the forefront of this pandemic regardless of their location,” he added.
