Overlord of the Dagbon state, Ndyan Yaa-Naa has urged the people of Dagbon and Ghanaians as a whole to ensure peace in the general elections on Monday, December 7, 2020.
The Ya-Na in a statement signed by his secretary, Abdul-Rahman Mohammed, called on the youth to be disciplined throughout the electoral process.
“I take this opportunity to urge everybody especially the youth to comport themselves and remain calm throughout the electoral process. Dagbon and Ghana will remain our only home and we owe ourselves an obligation to make it an abode of peace.” The statement said.
He further stated that ensuring peace before, during and after the election is a shared responsibility and thus everyone has a role to play in ensuring peace in Dagbon and Ghana as a whole.
“The importance of peace in the electioneering process cannot be overemphasized. Securing the peace we all need badly is a shared responsibility. It is therefore important for everyone to play the crucial role of ensuring that peace will prevail in Dagbon and Ghana before, during and after the elections.”
The Ya-Na then appealed to all Security agencies to identify all conflict signals and in electoral areas and beef up patrol those areas.
“My appeal also goes to the Security agencies to be up and doing in identifying hotspots and all conflict in the various electoral areas and nip them in a bud.”
He finally urged all Ghanaians to adhere strictly to COVID-19 safety protocols during the elections.
