West African Examination Council (WAEC) Ghana has announced the release of provisional results of the candidates who sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) this year.
This was contained in a statement released by WAEC Ghana on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.
A total number of 446, 352 students partook in the examination, made up of 221, 439 males, constituting 49.6% of the candidates and a number of 224,913 females thus 50.4% of the candidates. This figure is said to be is 18.8% higher than the 2020 figure.
With regards to the performance statistics of candidates for this year, the number of students who scored between A1 to C6 is 54.08%, 54.11%, 65.70%, and 66.03% for the core subjects English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science and Social Studies respectively against the 57.34%, 65.71%, 52.53%, and 64.31% which were recorded for these same subjects last year, indicating an improvement in Social Studies and Integrated Science and a spurn in Core Mathematics and English Language.
A total of 1,339 subject results and 174 of the entire results have been canceled on the grounds of malpractice and the entire results of 3,667 candidates are being withheld for investigation based on the malpractice detected during the conduct of the examination.
Also, results of candidates from 194 schools in some subjects have been withheld for scrutiny.
