The Electoral Commission of the University of Ghana Students Representative Council has warned that there will be no filing of nominations for the election of Executive Officers for the school’s SRC for the 2019/2020 academic year after the scheduled deadline, Sunday, March 24, 6 pm.
In an exclusive interview with Univers News, Chairman of the UG SRC Electoral Commission, Mr. Roland Tettey stated that prospective candidates must file their nominations before the deadline time of 6:00 pm tomorrow. He further added that No Excuse with regards to the filing of nominations will be accepted after the close of the stipulated deadline.
“People have to file nominations before 6 pm. 6 pm is the deadline so even 6:01 pm we will not accept any filing of nominations. So exactly 6 pm we are done with the filing of nominations”. He said.
Mr. Roland Tettey also added that a communique will be released to inform the university community with regards to persons who have filed their nominations for the upcoming elections.
“We will issue a release with the people that have filed their nominations actually”. He stated.
The EC Chairman disclosed that as of Friday, March 22, 19 prospective candidates had picked up nomination forms.
The Electoral Commission opened nominations for the election of Executive Officers for the school’s SRC for the 2019/2020 academic year on Sunday, March 17 at 12:00 am.
To be eligible to compete in the election, applicants must be students of the University and must as well satisfy all requirements under Article 29(1) and 30(1, 2, 3) of the UG SRC constitution.
The elections have been slated for Wednesday [April 10, 2019.]
