The Ghana Police Service has denied the deployment of men in blindfold to guard the various polling stations in today’s bye elections.
Speaking to an assembled press in Bawaleshie, the Police noted that deployments were made but not of men in clothes branded ‘NSC’ and in blindfold.
The police further noted that the issues will be investigated to bring further clarity on the issues.
Meanwhile the National Democratic Congress has withdrawn from the elections following some incidents of violence which has marred the electoral process especially at Bawaleshie where there are reports of shooting.
The National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, said the party’s candidate, Delali Brempong, was basically being “held hostage” in the area.
He also said there was “serious intimidation” from national security operatives.
The party is set to hold a press conference later today.
