On behalf of the Mensah Sarbah Hall Alumni, the Alumni President, His Eminence, Francis Albert Seth Nyonyo on Friday, 19th February 2021, donated cash and some relief items to Mrs. Ruth Asiedu, the Secretary to the Hall Master of Mensah Sarbah Hall, following a fire outbreak which rampaged her house late last year.
A total of GHc 5,000.00 in cash with the part being contributions from members, bags of rice, cooking oil, and pieces of cloths were items donated to Aunty Ruth as well as other contributions made in person by other members as a token to help her recover some of her losses to the fire outbreak.
The donation was preceded by lunch with Aunty Ruth and other stakeholders present, to interact on pressing issues of the hall towards the improvement of the Alumni and the Hall at large.
Some of the Executives of the Alumni Union, the Hall Bursar, the SCR President, and the JCR Executives of the Hall were all present to witness and grace this brief but necessary occasion.
Under the current leadership of His Eminence, Francis Albert Seth Nyonyo as Sarbah Hall Alumni president, the Alumni has initiated and executed projects towards the welfare of students and the Mensah Sarbah Hall at large. These include the Vikings Vocation Camp, sponsorship of Annual Leavers Dinner, Sports, and other JCR activities and programs.
In addition, the Alumni is continuing with the construction of the Alumni Hostel Project which is fast nearing completion and will ease accommodation challenges that students face annually.
Mensah Sarbah Hall so far is the only hall in the University of Ghana that carries out Alumni Celebrity Platform Lectures mainly to motive current students for higher aspirations and accomplishments. However, for the past few years, the Alumni of the Hall and the Hall as a whole have not been able to organize this vital event due to some challenges.
It is therefore worthy of mention that, last year, this important program on Hall’s calendar was held and hosted the eminent economists, Professor Ernest Aryeetey, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana as the Guest Speaker.
Despite the outbreak of covid-19 and its related social obstructions, prominent members including Kwesi Prempeh, Esq, Director of Ghana School of Law was in attendance as Guest of Honour.
The Alumni President, His Eminence, Francis Albert Seth Nyonyo in his personal capacity has been of immense support to students of the hall who aspire for leadership positions, those who are into ‘Self Entrepreneurial’ activities as well as those in financial distress on many occasions.
With all this in the past and many others outlined for the coming months, This year presents itself as a glorious one for the Alumni and the Hall as all is on course to regain the lost glories’ of the Alumni and reposition it on high heights towards the revival of members, current students and the overall establishment of the Alumni.
