Former University of Ghana SRC Presidential candidate, Clement Bofa-Oppong has discounted rumours making rounds on campus regarding an alleged deferment of his course.
News about the ex-SRC presidential hopeful who almost secured a place for himself at the SRC Union Building in the last general election has been circulating among some students who believe he has deferred his course to stage a comeback in the next SRC election.
Mr. Bofa-Oppong, a HIstory student, who is supposed to be in fourth year, has had some student politicians suspecting a possible deferment of his course.
Although the exact reason for this suspicion is not known to Univers News, there has been a deafening silence from him since he lost the 2018 elections to Sylvester Amoako.
For the purpose of emphasis, in two successive academic years, there have been an interesting trend of deferment by some failed SRC aspirants to rerun for election into office with the newest being Emmanuel Boadi who is deferring for the second time to run for SRC President.
This may have fueled the latest allegation of deferment by ‘Clementino’.
But speaking exclusively to Univers News, Mr. Bofa-Oppong vehemently denied deferring and maintained that he is currently a level 400 student.
“I have not deferred, I am in level 400”, he insisted.
Though he did not react to whether or not he had plans of running again for the SRC top job, his being a final year student disqualifies him from contesting the elections.
