The power transmission company has blamed the situation on technical issues and has promised to resolve them.

Speaking to the media during his visit to Ghana GRID Company Limited, he ruled out claims that the energy sector is facing financial crisis.

According to him, the system’s upgrade is responsible for the intermittent power outages some parts of the country are facing.

“As far as we can see, the project is an ongoing project and so it is not about finances, it’s just like when you are renovating your house, sometimes it’s more complicated and expensive than even building a new house,” he said.

He further called on Ghanaians to cope with the constant power outages in some parts of the country, promising that the power sector will be stronger after ongoing maintenance operation.

The Energy Minister recounted that ‘dumsor’ was planned, had timetable laid out and it also affected the entire country for four years.

He said the current power outages are not caused by lack of funds.

“I think the issue of financial challenges doesn’t even come in here because they are doing the project, we can all see it, so where does finance come in?,” he asked.
