The Coalition of Repatriated Ghanaians has welcomed the Electoral Commission’s announcement to reopen the voters’ registration process for one more day.
The EC in a statement dated September 24, 2020 said district offices of the Commission will be opened on Thursday, October 1, 2020 to allow persons who are 18 years and were unable to register in the just ended voter registration exercise another opportunity to do so.
In an interview with UniversNews, Lead Convenor of the Coalition, Mr. Kingsley Dunyo said the announcement was a step in the right direction.
“We see it to be a good response to what we were asking for so we will take the opportunity to go and register,” he said.
Mr. Dunyo further urged members of the Coalition to seize the opportunity and register.
“I will entreat all my colleagues to go to all their district offices on come October 1, 2020 to go and join the registration process,” he appealed.
The Coalition of Repatriated Ghanaians had earlier threatened to embark on legal actions against the EC for what it says is the failure on the part of the Commission to follow through on their promise to make special arrangements for it’s members to register.
The group attributed their inability to participate in the voter registration exercise to the mandatory quarantine it’s members had to undergo upon their arrival in the country.
