Award-winning Ghanaian musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, is not happy with the high number of musical events that are being held in Accra.
He wants musicians to consider holding their events outside the capital city.
In his “State of the Industry Address” on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, the President of the Shatta Movement explained that the move will draw investors to establish more event centers in these “minority regions”.
“It must not continue to happen that all major music shows only happen in Accra. We must be able to hold big and popular events that happen annually in different parts of the country. This will help promote new artists coming from those minority regions. It is also a move that gives reason for governments and investors to open and establish more event centers across the country,” he said.
Shatta Wale also called on the government to work at using music as a tool to attract foreigners into the country.
“I want to again plead with the leadership of the state to institute an agenda to use music as a tourism tool to promote the country. If the state can spend ten percent of the sports budget on music, I am sure it will set us on the road to global heights,” he added.
