The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) took on the University of Education Winneba (UEW) in the third match of the morning.
Both teams started the match at a high pace.
It was however UEW that was able to take better advantage of their possessions to make shots and take an early lead.
UMaT made some adjustments to match the pace of UEW. The back and forth ensured that the quarter ended at 7 apiece.
The second quarter was no different as the two sides continued to trade baskets.
The lead changed hands several times and by the end of the quarter lay in the possession of UMaT. 18-16 was the score by halftime.
Winneba entered the quarter looking to make a statement and did exactly that.
They forced UMaT to take low percentage shots and also commit turnovers.
UEW used thus to their advantage and began to pull away late in the quarter.
The score which stood at 37-28 in Winneba’s favour was the largest lead for either of the two teams throughout the game.
Winneba stepped up to the plate in the final quarter with a classic performance.
Their defense held UMaT‘s offense at bay and restricted it to just 11 points as opposed to UEW’s 16 points.
The match ended 63-39 in Winneba’s favour.
